Restructuring of Chinese telecom market and 3G launch should help drive
growth. In 2008, China restructured six operators into three fixed/mobile converged
operators (China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom). We believe this will
create a more competitive environment, versus having two mobile operators
previously. This should result in a need to improve B/OSS systems. In addition, the
launch of 3G networks in China will drive the need for additional B/OSS functionality.

Sports Illustrated “Letters” – 6/29/09 – Incidents like Jeangerard’s wandering off may be dealt with more easily in the very near future. GTX Corp, a technology company, and Aetrex Worldwide, a footwear company, have announced plans for shoes containing a GPS chi that will allow family members or safety personnel to locate anyone wearing the shoes through online tracking software.

The technology additionally includes “geofence” capabilities triggering an automatic alert if the individual crosses a set perimeter around the home or
neighborhood.

What mobile handset manufacturers see is that while hardware can be a revenue center, it can be, as examplified by Apple and the iPhone, a platform for software (applications) revenue. Further, unless an OEM decides that a low-cost handset or purpose-built, limited-functionality handset (witness Jitterbug) the cost to stay relevant is about well-executed user interface and being the next can-live-without consumer device.

I stumbled on this site a few days ago, so I’m a little new to the GPS world, but I honestly don’t understand how no one has figured out a way to easily and safely track those people with Alzheimer’s.

It’s going to be a bigger problem in the future, isn’t it? So why aren’t there shoes or something that has a little tracker in it?

Just my two cents.
